Memorial Day weekend saw the Element Case team heading up the I-15 from our San Diego base for an X-cellent day of X-treme fun…and phone case X-changing. Detecting a theme here? We road-tripped to San Bernardino, California for the second round of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross (aka Moto-X) Championship at Glen Helen Raceway.
This track has earned a reputation in the sport for having the widest and steepest first turn, while Glen Helen’s uphills and downhills are said to be so huge they’re more like mountains! No less an authority than MX Sports Pro Racing calls it “supersized motocross.”
Despite the slightly wet start to the day—even if it was just some sprinkles (in May?), it challenged the “It Never Rains in Southern California” rep we’ve established with the rest of the country—a sellout crowd engulfed the track, ready to cheer on their cycle heroes.
Current National Champion Eli Tomac reclaimed the Glen Helen 450 Class title that he first captured three years ago, while Aaron Plessinger nabbed the 250 Class crown. Each of two classes featured more than 40 riders competing for the podium.
As has become custom at the events where we pitch our tent, the hottest place to be seen was under the black and white Element Case canopy. Lines were constant, as race fans came to check out our racing-inspired lineup of Adrenaline Series cases, and a slew of these folks participated in our now legendary “case swap” by turning in their current mobile phone case in exchange for a shiny new REV or Roll Cage case.
Not sure which event we’ll be at next, but in the spirit of this most recent high-octane event, let’s just say we’ll “cc” you there.
